Q: What are the key differences in becoming an ICF Global member and an ICF Toronto Chapter member?

ICF Global is the leading global organization dedicated to advancing the coaching profession by setting high standards, providing independent certification and building a worldwide network of trained coaching professionals. ICF recently reached a milestone of credentialing over 30,000 coaches—more than any other organization in the world. Holding an ICF credential makes a coach very marketable as all ICF Credentialed Coaches complete rigorous education and practice requirements, providing testimony to their commitment to excellence in coaching.

At this time, coaching is not regulated anywhere in the world. However, if you are serious about becoming a professional coach, your first step would be to network with other coaches and understand how ICF Toronto Chapter can benefit you.

ICF Toronto is a local chapter of the International Coach Federation and focuses specifically on the needs of coaches throughout Toronto and the surrounding area.

Q: Do you need to have a credential to be a member of ICF Global?

No, you do not need to have a credential, but you must meet at least one of the following requirements:

  • Hold a current ICF Credential (ACC, PCC, or MCC);
  • Have completed at least 60 hours of coach-specific training that meets ICF standards. (See what qualifies as coach-specific training below); or
  • Be enrolled in 60 hours of coach-specific training in a program that has either the ICF Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP) or Approved Coach-Specific Training Hours (ACSTH) distinction. (For new members only.)

Q: Why do I have an ICF Global member ID number and a different ICF Toronto chapter ID number?

These organizations are affiliated, however, operate as distinct organizations. Local ICF Chapters are available around the world and offer coaches regular occasions to meet face-to-face or virtually, attend programs, and get more involved with the ICF.

Q: Is there a fee to participate in ICF Toronto chapter events?

Yes. In order to participate, most events require you to choose between an annual activity fee (best value if you plan on attending three or more events) or pay-as-you go fee (separate fee per event or service). ICF Toronto members are eligible to participate in some complimentary events which are outlined in the Chapter Benefits chart by clicking HERE.

If you have any questions specific to fees, please contact Kim Leitch at kim@icftoronto.com.
