“The world was my oyster, until I used the wrong fork.”

Oscar Wilde

Sing for Your Supper – Nothing in Life is Free!

It’s been the first commandment of traveling musicians for centuries and today it’s great advice.

If you want to impress your host at his dinner party -

  • Dress appropriately
  • Be witty, charming and entertaining
  • Maneuver the dinner table with grace and ease

Rising to the top? Knowing how to behave with class and style will catapult you there.

Be a smashing success - pay attention to the following:

  • At the table, wait until the host indicates where to sit
  • When seated, perfect posture is required – feet flat on the floor, back straight against the chair back
  • Hands on your lap
  • Place napkin on your lap immediately
  • Do not touch anything on the table

The table has been arranged in a specific order and with a specific purpose. Not quite sure which fork to pick up, where to put the roll–

  • Follow your host’s lead
  • Start from the outside in – that is with the utensil that is furthest from the plate
  • It is a major faux pas to either drink too much or smoke
  • Never overstay your welcome
  • Find your host and thank him before you leave

WHEN YOU SING FOR YOUR SUPPERStyle, personality & panache count! You will definitely be on everyone’s guest list – guaranteed.

Add that special touch by sending a hand written thank you note.

Shannon Smith, Author of Power Manners, Founder of – Canada’s leading Contemporary Finishing School offers personal coaching and workshops in Personal Branding (appropriate attire and grooming); Presentation Skills; Etiquette and Dining Events.
